TRIATHY III HAS ARRIVED!

As the curtain falls on 2008, plans are now well advanced for the third staging of Ireland’s Fastest Triathlon - TriAthy 2009. This years event will take place on Saturday 30th May 2009 (over the June Bank

Holiday weekend).

2009 REGISTRATIONS OPEN ON 1 JANUARY

Registrations for the 2009 event will open on New Years Day and thousands are expected to take on the challenge by logging on to www.triathy.com within the next few days. As in previous years, TriAthy will consist of two races: TriAthy SPRINT and TriAthy OLYMPIC:TriAthy SPRINT consist of a 750m downstream swim, a 20km cycle and a 5km run.

TriAthy OLYMPIC involves a 1.5km swim (mostly downstream!), a 40km cycle and a 10km run.

The event is open to Individuals who take on all three disciplines or Relay Teams of 3 who can each take on one discipline each.

TRIATHY GOES FROM STRENGTH TO STRENGTH

After just two year’s the TriAthy race has become embedded as one of Ireland’s most cherished triathlon events. In only it’s second year it hosted the Irish Triathlon Championships and attracted 1,400

participants to the Co. Kildare town - a feat which made it the largest triathlon ever to take place in Ireland.

The event continues to generate interest and at this point the Organisers estimate that over 2,000 participants will take part in the 2009 race.

WHY IS ATHY SO GOOD FOR TRIATHLON?

Athy’s naturally flat topography, convenient location, and historical setting all combine with natural adrenaline and an electric atmosphere to create an excellent showcase for the sport.

This reputation must be jealously guarded and the Organising Team are mindful that an event this size can only take place with the dedication of a massive volunteer force and the ongoing cooperation of Our Sponsors, An Gardai Siochana, The Local Authorities, The Defence Forces, The Civil Defence, Local Sporting Organisations, Local Residents, and the Athy Business Community.

CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS

As TriAthy III will be the biggest event so far, the Organising Team are looking for volunteers to assist with the massive logistics of race day. If anyone is interested in helping out we would invite them to visit our

volunteer page at www.triathy.com and sign up to become a raceday volunteer. All volunteers will receive a TriAthy Marshal T-Shirt as well as several other raceday goodies.

2009 SPONSORSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

TriAthy is an excellent visual showcase event and may afford businesses with an ideal opportunity to associate with the tremendous goodwill being generated by the event. Anyone interested in becoming a 2009 sponsor should contact the TriAthy Team at info@triathy.com
