Fields of Life



On Thursday 8th of October 'Voices of Life' Choir from Uganda will be visiting Athy Church of Ireland Centre at 8pm. No Tickets required, but any donations will go to the work of Fields of Life for the building of schools in Africa.

The choir is made up of seventeen young people from Uganda who will be singing and dancing their way into the hearts of the people of Ireland on a six week tour.

Kickboxing



School of Sport will be starting Kickboxing Classes next month for adults and children - Mondays and Thursdays at 7pm (Children) and 8pm (Adults). Visit www.kickboxing.ie for more details.

Rheban GFC


Tickets are on sale for Rheban GFC annual draw, which takes place in Ann’s Place on Friday 2nd October 2009.

Tickets cost €15 each.

The prizes are as follows; 1st €1500, 2nd €700, 3rd €400, 4th €300, 5th €150, 6th €150, 7th €150, 8th €75, 9th €75, 10th €75, 11th €75, 12th €75, 13th €75 and 14th €75.


There are still some tickets available from any committee member.

What's On Athy is a new monthly listings magazine containing a diary of everything that will be happening in the next month in the Athy area.

St. Laurence's Got Talent!



It's the biggest talent show the area has ever staged and it's aimed at anyone from 8 - 108! The date is Saturday, 17th October at St. Laurence's Sports Complex, Oldgrange, starting at 8p.m. Admission to the show is €10 for individuals or €25 for a family.


So who's eligible to enter? Anyone in the St. Laurence's catchment area or anyone who has any sporting associations with the club. It's €10 per single entry with a maximum of €50 for groups of five or more. Singers, dancers, musicians, magicians, jugglers, comedians, actors, actresses, poetry reciters, choirs; we want them all and the closing date is Friday, 2nd October.


Applications forms are available from Yvonne Dowling at St. Laurence's Reception Desk Monday to Friday from 9a.m. - 1p.m. or contact her at 059/8636769, 087/7714042.


Three very well qualified judges will decide on the winners, Ronnatt Ramsay, Public Affairs/Late Late Show RTE, Chris Fingleton, News Coordinator Carlow Nationalist, Sean McGilly, Sean McGilly is a former member of the Jimmy Dunny Band. He has also been a member of the Athy Musical and Dramatic Society, taking lead roles in many productions as well as appearing on the Ed Sullivan Show in the U.S.A. on many a St. Patrick's Day when his beautiful singing voice rang out throughout America from his home in Atlanta.

Prize money is in excess of €1,000 with €500 for the winner.
