Carbery Park Work Begins

Work has begun on the Remedial works for Carbery Park. What is the work? Well the estate on the Stradbally road was built in the 60’s and certainly needs revambing. There are a small number of new houses to be built at the ends of the line of houses and a dramatic renovation to take place on the whole estate. New roadways will be built to allow access to the front doors, gardens are to be extended and remedial work carried out to the houses including new porches. Residents are delighted at this long overdue facelift.

May the Force be with you

Good news for Athy is that an additional member of the Garda Siochana is being allocated to the town. I think this gives the town 14 Gardai 3 Sergeants and 1 Detective. Changes to the Garda districts are being talked about. Currently Athy is part of the Carlow division

Where's the train?

Our thanks to a commuter who sent us this response she received from Irish Rail in relation to interruption to their service at present. It may inform others:

I am sorry to hear about the recent difficulties you are experiencing whilst using our evening services on the Athy route.
Unfortunately due to operational difficulties we have not been able to operate 17:35 hours service from Heuston to Carlow since Monday last. Arrangements put in place are that customers for Sallins and Newbridge travel on the Westport service as far as Newbridge, where a bus connection is provided to Carlow, serving Athy en route.
On-going efforts are being made to resolve the problem. In the interim the arrangements described above will apply. At this stage I am unable to say when the problem will be resolved.
