Marian Shrine

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas, the people of Athy and in particular the folks of Rathstewert, St Josephs and surrounding areas are celebrating in style. Eat, drink and be merry, it is the annual lighting of the grotto lights. The Marian Shrine Christmas lights will be switched on following 7 o'clock Mass in St Michael's Parish Church on the night of Saturday 12th December.
In the true spirit of Christmas the choir will be conducted by renowned choir master Emmanuel Kennedy. They will perform a selection of Christmas Carols and seasonal songs. Mulled wine will be liberally dispensed to drive the cold Winter away and a number of seats will be available for the comfort of our Senior Citizens. To finish the evening hot snacks, generously provided by the host, will be provided in Ann's Place. Everybody is welcome, young and older, so please come and help put the Happy into Happy Christmas.
Shrine committee chairman, Gerry Delahunt wishes to thank all of the people who helped and supported the maintenance of the Shrine throughout 2009 and adds a very special thanks to Ann Cunningham who's tremendous support and generosity is very much appreciated.
