An announcement from Minister O Keeffe, Minister for Education and Science today was welcome news for the people as he announced that Athy Community College is to immediately go to construction and work should begin on site in a matter of weeks.
The new 400 pupil school on a 25 acre campus will contain state of the art facilities with a PE hall, lecture theatre, playing fields, technology and computer rooms and will completed within 18 months.
