The French Connection

As part of the twinning arrangement between Athy and Grandvilliers today 18 students arrived in Athy to spend three weeks on work placement on farms and equestrian related locations. The Lifelong Learning Program (EACEA) & MFR Songeons- Equine & Traditional Agriculture programme and the twinning committees of the two towns are very obliged to the host families who are giving these young people the opportunity and strengthening the links between our two towns. Anybody interested in participating in future twinning activities should contact the twinning committee or Athy Town Council. We will be glad to pass on expressions of interest at athylive@rdaly.net

Rheban GFC Race Night

Rheban GFC are holding a race night on Saturday 30th August 2008 in aid of our underage section of the th club.

As this is a very important part of our club we would appreciate all the support we can get. Our undarage committe are doing tremendous work and appreciate all your support.

We are urging all to come along and enjoy a great night of Racing.

Wider Options

Athy Community College’s Wider Options courses commence in September and include Art, French Communications, Computerised Accounts and Computers for beginners and advanced students. Athy Tuesday Market- 19th August

Due to the current inclement weather forecast and levels of flooding at the Back Square and local roads, Athy Town Council wishes to advise all stall holders, traders and their customers that the operation of the market is suspended this Tuesday (19th August).

The decision been taken in the interest of public health & safety and in consultation with local Gardai & Civil Defence.
