One Way Streets

As an attempt to alleviate traffic congestion Athy Town Council will be implementing a one-way system on some of the side roads shortly. Most notable will be Chapel Lane (beside Madden Chemist) becoming one way (away from main Leinster St) . Also across the road from it Meeting Lane (beside Hyland Butcher) will be one way from Leinster St to Meeting Lane Car Park. Finally St John’s Lane (very narrow) will be one way – away from Duke Street.
These changes should help after their introduction. At any rate it is an attempt to address the current traffic congestion.

I think making some of the streets one way makes a bit of sense because they weren't designed for 2 cars in the first place. We could also do with a set of traffic lights on the kilkenny road side of town and get rid of that yellow box, its ludicrous that with Dun Brinn being now a large residential estate (not leaving out of course the established estates) that the first set of traffic lights from Ballylynan is at the post office. Even a lollypop lady is needed to assist the kids and parents.
