LoCAL BUSINESSES TEAM UP FOR ORGANIC WEEK



Four local entrepreneurs in Athy, Co. Kildare, have joined forces to celebrate ‘Organic Living’, as part of this years National Organic Week, which runs from September 15th to September 21st.

By hosting an evening of organic indulgence Amanda Webb from Feelgood Organic Hampers, Kevin Connolly from Healthy Living health food shop and Wellness centre, Yuki Kobayash From Moyleabbey Organic Kitchen and Urs Tobler from Vendemia Wines are hoping to bring their enthusiasm for organic food and wine to the people of Athy.

Taking place at the newly refurbished Yoga rooms at Healthy Living in Athy, the group will offer guests organic wine tasting, cookery demonstrations, a full 3 course organic, macrobiotic, vegan and wheat free meal, entertainment and prizes.

Co-ordinated by Bord Bia on behalf of the Organic Market Development Group, National Organic Week is designed to promote the organic market in Ireland. The sector which according to Bord Bia is now worth €66million a year has seen a growth of 75% in the last three With the UK market still growing in spite of the credit crunch there are high hopes for the export opportunities that Irish organic farming offers.

The event in Athy, will take place on Friday the 19th of September, starting at 7.30pm. Tickets are priced at €25 each and include the meal as well as plenty of wine!
