There has been more than one incident locally of people posing as council employees entering houses to supposedly fix water and have robbed the house while pretending to check water pipes. This is happening particularly to elderly trusting people. Please ask your neighbours to look out for each other and feel free to ring council or councillors or gardai if you suspect people posing as council employees.
Nobody, repeat nobody should attempt walking, cycling on frozen canal or lakes. There are several reports of this and it is lethal.
Check smoke alarms. We are using more electricity, fires, etc so check that smoke alarm is working.
