Subject to final sign off by Iarnroid Eireann HQ local consensus seems to have been reached on the positioning and construction of the Southern Distributor Road and significant progress is being made. While there is still work to be done, if all goes to plan construction work could begin in 2010 and could take 18 months or so. Funding for the project has to be secured in the meantime.
Meanwhile work has begun on the Ardreigh/Carlow road to straighten the bad bend. This work and the construction of footpaths from Coneyboro outwards should be completed by the end of the year
